Lay Yong Tan, CA - Founder
Lay Yong is an international coffee judge, and has been involved in numerous Cup of Excellence competitions around the world. He has extensive knowledge in the fair trade-organic industry, especially in the area of coffee. Trained as a chartered accountant, he has over 20 years of experience providing accounting, taxation and consulting services. Prior to being in the fair trade industry, he was the financial controller for Stora Enso, and served as a manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
Lay Yong currently resides in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. He is actively involved in the community, where he is the treasurer of the local Rotary Club and Acadia Cinema Co-op. He is also a committee member on the Community and Economic Development committee of Wolfville and volunteers at various fund raising projects in the community.
Steve Wilsack – Business Development
Steve is an entrepreneur with over 30 years of business experience in Nova Scotia and internationally as well. He currently owns and operates Innovative System, a company that manufactures computers and provides services in the IT industry. He oversees the business development aspect of T.A.N coffee.
KeePing Lau, MBA –Sales and Marketing
A marketing consultant and corporate trainer, KeePing has been working internationally with multinationals as well as small and medium enterprises since 1991. His specialty lies in branding, strategic and international market development.
KeePing oversees the sales and marketing aspect of T.A.N. coffee. His passion lies in tea, ever since he studied with a tea master when he was a teenager. He loves traveling to different countries and see how teas are being enjoyed and celebrated. He currently teaches at the school of business at Acadia University and runs his own marketing and training consultancy.
Marilyn Eng, Barista Extraordinaire
A self-taught professional photographer with a strong sense of ethics and community, and prior to that, Marilyn was a sales and marketing manager in the international fashion industry. She wanted to create a space where work can be fun and creative; where ideas can be exchanged; where everyone feels they are connected; and is life-changing all at the same time.
Marilyn has endeavored to combine her passion for people from all walks of life and for coffee by opening the first T.A.N. café in Toronto in April of 2008. Marilyn is thrilled to be living her dreams through owning and working in her café, where she is able to commit herself to people, community, social justice and coffee, one cup at a time.
Lay Chin – Chief Operating Officer
Lay Chin Tan owns T.A.N coffee at Coldbrook. Lay Chin immigrated to Nova Scotia in 2005 and has been working towards obtaining a professional designation in accounting. Prior to joining us, she was a key account manager for a sales company. Lay Chin brings with her over ten years of experience in providing customer service and public relations. She is an individual with genuine passion and she gives full commitment to whatever she pursues.
